Obsidian Entertainment still has one more DLC in the works for The Outer Worlds after the Peril on Gorgon releases, and the launch of Grounded to facilitate. However, it seems likely that both of those will reduce over the next few months, maybe even a year, to where small crews are working on those while Avowed updates becomes Obsidian's focus. In other words, it seems to be aiming for a release date a lot sooner than The Elder Scrolls<br><br> <br>Bethesda and Obsidian have worked on several of the same IPs, and Bethesda’s worlds were greatly influenced by earlier games that Obsidian’s future founders had worked on. It's no secret that The Elder Scrolls 6 was announced early due to the expected divisiveness of Fallout <br><br> <br>One thing fans can seemingly count on is the inclusion of playable races. The Elder Scrolls 6 will likely continue the tried-and-true races of the franchise in its game, but Avowed may initially seem like a different story. Yet, it isn't really. It's been confirmed that Avowed takes place in Eora, the same setting as the Pillars of Eternity franchise, which means players will encounter the same races found there...and probably play t<br><br> <br>Bethesda is still a huge company, and it will be a long time before its place in the RPG world is completely replaced. Nonetheless, Obsidian’s announcement of Avowed shows that the smaller developer is coming for Bethesda’s crown, and is ready to take advantage of Bethesda’s failures over the last few years. Time will tell if Obsidian is successful, but if both companies continue their current trajectories, Obsidian may well prove the old mantra true: the bigger they are, the harder they f<br><br> <br>Avowed has more than enough space to be its own game and established new lore, because there's so much of Eora that even those who played the Pillars games haven't seen yet. At the same time, using Eora as the setting of Avowed is a great way to reel in Pillars players as well as newcomers to the g<br><br> <br>During Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire , the aforementioned Wheel was smashed to unusable pieces by the god Eothas, effectively halting the cycle of reincarnation until such a time as kith could figure out how to make it function themselves. As such, the end of Deadfire left Eora in a state of rebuilding from the sudden chaos that the gods created. However, the state of Eora post- Deadfire might not even matter - the time period that Avowed takes place in could be long before or after anything in Pillars of Eternity , or the Living Lands could be so far removed from the rest of the world that there's little mention of the previous games' eve<br><br> <br>Pillars of Eternity was Obsidian's love letter to the old isometric RPG genre, including games like the Baldur's Gate saga
